After one month of a stalled budget, the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) reconvened to take their final votes on 2015-2017 state budget. In Thursday's committee meeting, members voted on the transportation budget, a tax package and the budget wrap up motion (Motion 999). You can read about the motions below.
As of 10:20 p.m. Thursday night, JFC had not adjourned and stood informal, even after all three of the motions were passed. Though no official announcement was made, the press and those inside the capitol speculated Republican leaders were considering advancing changes to the prevailing wage law. Earlier this week, Republican leadership announced prevailing wage would be considered next week, separate from the budget. After a lengthy delay, at 11:30 p.m., the committee reconvened without any consensus on prevailing wage.
The final motion of the night, to be voted on shortly, will adopt a substitute amendment incorporating all of the committee's changes to the budget bill.
Next week, the Senate is expected to hold an Extraordinary Session on Tuesday, July 7 to vote on the budget, employment contracts for state patrollers and the Bucks arena. It is reported the Assembly will meet Wednesday to vote on the state budget.
